Kjerag bolt

Kjerag is famous for its iconic boulder wedged between two cliffs, about 1000 meters above Lysefjorden. The hike is demanding, with several steep ascents and descents, but the reward is a breathtaking view and the chance to stand on the Kjeragbolten. If you are lucky, you may also witness some of the spectacular base jumping activity from the Kjerag plateau. Kjerag is the most popular area for base jumping in Norway with more than 50 exit points spread over a length of 3 km. The drive there goes from Preikestolen Panorama to Oanes for a 15 minute ferry across Lysefjorden/Høgsfjorden to Lauvvik. From Lauvvik, it is around 2 hour drive to the Kjerag parking at the 'eagles nest restaurant'. Even though a bit far, the drive there goes through some scenic terrain and along windy and narrow mountain roads. The road is only open from late May to beginning of November due to large volumes of snow and a reindeer conservatory area.
